We’ve come the wrong way, baby! It appears that women have won another round in the quest for gender equality: alcohol consumption. A recently released study reveals that binge drinking by students at women’s colleges has increased 9 percent in the last year alone, inching women ever closer to full parity with men.

A survey of 10,000 college students on over a hundred campuses, five of which were women’s colleges. The study showed that these empowered females are serious about their quest to catch up to men in virtually every arena, even the bars. The study found a significant decrease in the number of alcohol abstainers at women’s colleges, while the rate of abstention increased among women at coed schools.

The director of the study remarked, “Despite flat national trends in overall binge drinking, there was a progressive rise in the number of binge drinkers at all-women schools between 2000 and 2009.” Way to be progressive, ladies!
